The museum is a hive of
activity throughout the year, not just the summer
months. Throughout the calendar year, our volunteers
gather on various days of the week to create displays,
work on antique textiles, build storage and display
frames, research and make labels, catalogue and assess new
acquisitions and much, much more. If you are interested in
working on our extensive textile collection, the group
meets on Thursday afternoons and is coordinated by Cathy
Rodger (623-6289). With in excess of 2500 volunteer
hours given in 2007, it is clear that our volunteers have
become the life blood of this museum and we need your
donation of time and expertise to make us even
better. If you have a couple of hours a week to
spare, we are looking for you. We always welcome
volunteers who may have skills in woodworking, painting,
display creation, historical research, computing and
secretarial work.
On Tuesdays, high school
volunteers who are working on their community service
hours get together for label making, painting and
display/exhibit creation improvement. Their laughter
and occasional smell of pizza would suggest that it is not
all hard work. If you are a high school student
looking to top up your hours or just have a historically
good time, please contact the museum.
